Sprout child development app
Jan 2024 - may 2024
A child development app made to assist parents navigating technology dependency in children of the next generation
challenge
Excessive technology use from a young age
As technology becomes the dominant form of entertainment for children, the negative influence on a child’s developing brain will only increase.
This is exacerbated by parents’ dependence on technology and a lack of understanding of technology's influence on child development.
The Goal:
We aim to create an interactive system to encourage parents to use safer digital resources with their children and engage with them in inexpensive ways that are not technology-based.
solution
Introducing Sprout
To create an interactive system to encourage parents to use safer digital resources with their children and engage with them without needing technology

research
Competitive analysis
Most current cognitive development apps on the market are geared towards infants and stop tracking after the age of 3.
The process
We started developing research with a focus on overstimulation and how it affects the growing brain.
Basic understanding of tech dependence issues:
> A decline of play and executive functions
> Adverse effects on children's language usage and cognitive abilities, leading to a more difficult learning experience
> Potentially negatively affecting language development and reading abilities at a young age
branding
Advertisements and creatine a cohesive brand
By adjusting the color schemes and aesthetics, a new branding initiative was created to connect all parts of the design together.

prototyping
We created an interactive prototype through figma
70+ screens developed through figma
UI design
We further updated the UI for a cleaner and sleeker design
Accounting for user responses and usability testing, the interface was updated to represent updating trends in app UI and modern aesthetics.

AI integration and database
To further the limits of this application, we hope to create a prototype of how the learning models of its database systems would work in real time.
This algorithm would pull from sources parents approve of and manually input to provide a trusted resource that learns what preferences to follow along with your childs responses.
