What is Cornelia Fort Airpark?

Cornelia Fort Airpark is an abandoned private airport that has been turned into a festival space, park, and biking trail for the people of Nashville.

How can the park be more family-friendly?

When interviewing park visitors, most complaints centered on a lack of lighting around the park, uneven cement, and a small playground with few interactive elements.

What is the historical relevance of the Airpark?

Cornelia Clark Fort was a civilian flight instructor active during World War II. Women civilian flyers like Cornelia weren’t allowed to be counted among the official military war dead due to laws prohibiting women from enlisting as flyers in the military

Cornelia Fort Airpark serves as a central point of Nashville for the community to gather and is one of the few historical spaces in Nashville that has not been demolished and built over.
